Himalayan Kitchen, Salt Lake City, UT

The Himalayan Kitchen is a restaurant which has both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. They have many vegan options, but this is not marked on the menu, you just need to inquire in the restaurant which are. My husband and I shared the Vegetable samosa as an appetizer. They were delicious and came with 2 sauces that were very good, one spicy and one sweet. For our meals we split the Chana Massala and the Saag Aloo, both vegan. They bring the dishes in bowls and bring rice in a seperate bowl. You also receive naan with the meal, but since naan isn't vegan, they brought us another type of flat bread that is. We asked for both meals to be made medium spicy and they were delicious. We will definitely be going back another time. The only downside is that there is not a lot of parking in the area, so you may be driving around for a few minutes to look for a spot to park. It was not enough of a hassle to keep me from going again though, since I enjoyed the food so much. The prices are reasonable too, we had an appetizer and 2 meals for around $30, with tip, however, we didn't get any drinks other than water. 360 South State Street, Salt Lake City, 84111. (801) 328-2077. Mon-Sat 11:30am-10pm and Sun 5-10pm.

  1. They have updated their menu and now clearly mark all vegan items.
